ONE MINUTE GUN!
The Racing Intangibles: 2/1/10
Why do some teams operate with limited resources and still seem to be able to make it happen on the race course? True, dollars make a big difference in racing. Having a new hull, fresh power heads, top competitive props sure makes a difference. We have all seen teams with excellent resources, though, not be able to put it together and win a championship.
What are the racing intangibles that give a team the competitive edge and put the team over the top?
As most of you know I am a Florida Gator homer…having grown up with the university as my playground. I love our football coach, Urban Meyer.
Meyer seems to understand the intangibles and has combined them with great recruits, facilities and coaches to produce an unprecedented winning percentage.
What are those intangibles? The most obvious is his emphasis on personal relationships among the coaches and their families and among the coaches and their position players. The focus is building a family atmosphere in the football program.
Treating people as they are meant to be treated is key. We are all created in the image of God and as His image bearers we are to be treated with respect and honor. This is most effectively accomplished in an atmosphere of family values at home and in all endeavors.
“Bear one another’s burdens and thus fulfill the law of Christ.” Galatians 6:2
Father, acknowledging value in those we come in contact with is so honoring of the image of God in them. May we always be conscious of that intangible as we seek to help others. Amen.
